Welcome to Year 6.
We are Oak class!
The adults in Oak class are Miss Ahmed and Mrs Brown (and Mrs Ali on Friday morning).
What will be learning about in Spring 1?
This half term, our school value is Honesty. We will be thinking about how we can show this value in class and whole school collective worship and our daily interactions.
In English, we are studying The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. Our end point will be a formal letter of complaint about the treatment of Bess and the Highwayman.
In Maths, we are going to be learning about Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.
We are starting the half term with our DT days in which we will be creating a healthy, balance meal: we will be learning about nutrition and pasteurization.
In Geography, we will be learning about The Americas and using our map skills to compare different parts of America with the UK.
In PSHE, we will be thinking about choices we can make to stay safe online and the impact social media can have on our wellbeing. We will link this to our E-safety work from Computing.
In RE, we will be thinking about interfaith work and how we can be more respectful of everyone in our town.
In Science, we will be holding a theme day where we learn about the processes of the Circulatory System and the effect that exercise has on us.
Take a look at our Curriculum Year Group Plan to find out what else we will be learning about in Year 6 this year. Remember you can find the knowledge organisers for each unit on class dojo – please share these with your children and discuss the key vocabulary!
